Headlining in the Village The Nut Club in Greenwich Village was where Jeff's father, valve trombonist Frank Orchard, played and met Jeff's mother, chanteuse Virginia Reinhard, while she worked the door. Virginia sang in one of Frank's bands, Frank Orchard's Hot Four With Ginger Added.(Virginia has red hair), but her stage name was Peggy Lane.

Two Faces of Frank JEFF'S FATHER, FRANK ORCHARD, and the great cornetist Bobby Hackett played together like brothers and they even looked like brothers. Jeff's mother would get pictures of Bobby sent to her from Frank's relatives. Bobby's wife would get pictures of Frank sent to her from Bobby's relatives. Both Bobby and Frank played guitar, as well as horn.
